Winner!
I did the link.
Now kermit, as supplied by RedHat as an RPM, now works.
It is apparently looking for /usr/lib/terminfo.
How stupid of RedHat not to have included the link, if they changed the
location of /usr/lib/terminfo between version 5.0 and 5.1
